Judy O'Brien - Owner of O'Brien Counseling Services, Inc.

Judy O'Brien holds a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Sam Houston State University.  She received her Master's degree in 1987.  Her bachelors degree is in Psychology with a minor in special education.  She is a licensed professional counselor (LPC)  and a licensed sex offender treatment provider (LSOTP).  But, the most important fact Judy wishes you to know about her is that she is a Christian.  She believes none of her accomplishments were possible without Christ.  Her approach to treatment also relies heavily on her Christian belief system.  Judy has experience with inpatient and outpatient clients of all ages. The majority of her experience is with the criminal justice system.  She has worked inside the prison and with people on probation and parole.  Judy was the first director of the sex offender treatment program within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division.  Currently her work with sex offenders is in an  outpatient setting with probationers.  Judy believes it is crucial to get the sex offender’s attention at the probation level.  If the sex offender chooses not to change, then prison is typically the next option.  Chances of rehabilitation at that level are minimal.  She is often asked to present on this topic.  For information on her upcoming presentations or if you would like for her to present this topic to your local community, school, and or church, please contact the office for details.
